FFS under A/UX

I saw someone recently post that (s)he had the Berkely FFS running under A/UX.
I assume that this does not include the boot partition, for obvious reasons.
What _real_ performance benefits have you seen, and how do you break that
win down (between "the application likes it", "the Mac likes it", and "the
hard disk likes it")?
Some not-yet-completed experiments suggest that disk writes in 8K blocks are
about *TWELVE* times faster than .5 or 1K blocks, under the regular Mac OS.
Somehow I don't think we'll see an order of magnitude speed improvement
across the board, but it sure would be nice...
And when is Apple going to provide booting support for FFS?
