take the interface down (appletalk -d)
edit /etc/appletalkrc to change the interface from localtalk0 to ethertalk0
log out & log back in to reset things
`appletalk' is not a kernel module. There are several kernel modules which
are part of AppleTalk. I don't bother to take them out of my kernel. I
just change the interface. I've got a modem cable on tty0 and a terminal
(mac +) on tty1. It works. It doesn't depend on having an ethernet card
installed. If you have an ethernet card, and want to use ethertalk, be
suer to bring the intercafe back up (appletalk -u) after editing the
appletalkrc file.
