I can attest to this csh problem to (under UHC SysVR4 version 2).  Typing
	cd /usr/share/man
	ls -F
is a generally reliable way of dumping csh after a few tries!

ksh isn't a bad replacement, however, and hasn't given me any probs (yet :).
