How to recognize NFS file systems via stat()?

Where might I read how to use the results from stat() to recognize an
NFS-mounted directory and/or file system under Ultrix?  I've got some
silly code that tests for st_dev > 18000 which seems to work empirically,
but I'd like an "official" method.
