Can you send mail, from unix, onto ARPA and off somewhere else?

as in:-
         UNIX ---uucp--- UNIX/ARPA-HOST --- ARPA-HOST/UNIX ---uucp--- UNIX

whats the correct mail command?, or is this a no no!!.
