phone uucp data integrity vs. X.25

A person that does not have news access has asked me to post the
following questions:

What is the data integrity of files sent over phone line links
by uucp on unix systems?  Is X.25 much more reliable as far as
data integrity goes?

He is trying to justify NOT using X.25 to exchange files among
a number of companies in Canada.
