Info on program called tex

Can anyone tell me what the program tex is and where I might obtain
it for a Sun Microsystems (tm I think) 2/120, and or 2/160 running
Unix BSD 4.2? I need it to produce Richard Stallman's printed EMACS
manual from the GNU project. Thanks in advance. Please reply by mail.
