NAME
     getpid, getppid  -  get process identification

SYNOPSIS
     pid = getpid();
     ppid = getppid();

DESCRIPTION
     _G_e_t_p_i_d returns the process ID of the current process.  Most
     often it is used to generate uniquely-named temporary files.
     _G_e_t_p_p_i_d returns the process ID of the parent of the current
     process.
