.SH NAME
v6 \- version 6
UNIX
file system access utility
.SH SYNTAX

special
.SH DESCRIPTION
.I V6
reads a version 6
UNIX
file system present on the block special file
.I special.
It reads the root directory of the file system,
which is then the current directory.
At any time there is a current version 6 working directory
in addition to the current version 7 directory
(that in effect at the time the program was entered).
.I V6
allows the user to change version 6 directories, list their entries,
print the contents of files on the terminal, and copy them
onto a version 7 file system.
It does not include any operations that write on or change
the version 6 file system.
The
.BR \-r ""
option allows examination of a damaged file system; it suppresses
the reading of the superblock or the root directory.
