     logger - make entries in the system log

SSYYNNOOPPSSIISS
     llooggggeerr [ --tt tag ] [ --pp pri ] [ --ii ] [ --ff file ] [ message
     ...  ]

AARRGGUUMMEENNTTSS
     --tt _t_a_g	 Mark every line in the log with the specified
		 _t_a_g.

     --pp _p_r_i	 Enter the message with the specified priority.
		 The priority may be specified numerically or as
		 a ``facility.level'' pair.  For example, ``-p
		 local3.info'' logs the message(s) as
		 _i_n_f_ormational level in the _l_o_c_a_l_3 facility.  The
		 default is ``user.notice.''

     --ii          Log the process id of the logger process with
		 each line.

     --ff _f_i_l_e	 Log the specified file.

     message	 The message to log; if not specified, and the --ff
		 flag is not provided, standard input is logged.

     _L_o_g_g_e_r provides a program interface to the _s_y_s_l_o_g(3) system
     log module.
