YPMATCH(1) UNIX Programmer's Manual YPMATCH(1) NAME ypmatch - print the value of one or more keys from a yp map SYNOPSIS ypmatch [ -d _d_o_m_a_i_n ] [ -k ] [ -t ] _k_e_y ... _m_n_a_m_e ypmatch -x DESCRIPTION ypmatch prints the values associated with one or more keys from the yellow pages (YP) map (database) specified by a _m_n_a_m_e, which may be either a _m_a_p_n_a_m_e or an map _n_i_c_k_n_a_m_e. Multiple keys can be specified; the same map will be searched for all . The keys must be exact values insofar as capitalization and length are concerned. No pattern match- ing is available. If a key is not matched, a diagnostic mes- sage is produced. OPTIONS -d Specify a domain other that the default domain. -k Before printing the value of a key, print the key itself, followed by a colon (':'). This is useful only if the keys are not duplicated in the values, or you've specified so many keys that the output could be confus- ing. -t Inhibit translation of nickname to mapname. For exam- ple, _y_p_m_a_t_c_h -_t _z_i_p_p_y _p_a_s_s_w_d will fail because there is no map named _p_a_s_s_w_d, while _y_p_m_a_t_c_h _z_i_p_p_y _p_a_s_s_w_d will be translated to _y_p_m_a_t_c_h _z_i_p_p_y _p_a_s_s_w_d._b_y_n_a_m_e . -x Display the map nickname table. This lists the nick- names (_m_n_a_m_e_s) the command knows of, and indicates the _m_a_p_n_a_m_e associated with each nickname. SEE ALSO ypfiles(5), ypcat(1) Printed 12/27/86 19 August 1985 1
