PUTS(3S)            UNIX Programmer's Manual             PUTS(3S)

NAME
     puts, fputs - put a string on a stream

SYNOPSIS
     #include <stdio.h>

     puts(s)
     char *s;

     fputs(s, stream)
     char *s;
     FILE *stream;

DESCRIPTION
     _P_u_t_s copies the null-terminated string _s to the standard
     output stream stdout and appends a newline character.

     _F_p_u_t_s copies the null-terminated string _s to the named out-
     put _s_t_r_e_a_m.

     Neither routine copies the terminal null character.

SEE ALSO
     fopen(3S), gets(3S), putc(3S), printf(3S), ferror(3S)
     fread(3S) for _f_w_r_i_t_e

BUGS
     _P_u_t_s appends a newline, _f_p_u_t_s does not, all in the name of
     backward compatibility.
