YPPOLL(8) UNIX Programmer's Manual YPPOLL(8)

NAME
yppoll - what version of a YP map is at a YP server host

SYNOPSIS
     yppoll [ -h _h_o_s_t ] [ -d _d_o_m_a_i_n ] _m_a_p_n_a_m_e

DESCRIPTION
_y_p_p_o_l_l asks a _y_p_s_e_r_v process what the order number is, and
which host is the master YP server for the named map. If the
server is a v.1 YP protocol server, _y_p_p_o_l_l uses the older
protocol to communciate with it. In this case, it also uses
the older diagnostic messages in case of failure.

OPTIONS
     -h _h_o_s_t
Ask the _y_p_s_e_r_v process at _h_o_s_t about the map parame-
ters. If _h_o_s_t isn't specified, the YP server for the
local host is used. That is, the default host is the
          one returned by _y_p_w_h_i_c_h(8).

     -d _d_o_m_a_i_n
Use _d_o_m_a_i_n instead of the default domain.
