CHROOT(8) BSD System Manager's Manual CHROOT(8) NNAAMMEE cchhrroooott - change root directory SSYYNNOOPPSSIISS cchhrroooott _n_e_w_r_o_o_t [_c_o_m_m_a_n_d] DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN The cchhrroooott command changes its root directory to the supplied directory _n_e_w_r_o_o_t and exec's _c_o_m_m_a_n_d, if supplied, or an interactive copy of your shell. Note, _c_o_m_m_a_n_d or the shell are run as your real-user-id. EENNVVIIRROONNMMEENNTT The following environment variable is referenced by cchhrroooott: SHELL If set, the string specified by SHELL is interpreted as the name of the shell to exec. If the variable SHELL is not set, _/_b_i_n_/_s_h is used.
