.th CLRM VIII 5/31/77 .sh NAME clrm \*- clear mode of i-node .sh SYNOPSIS .bd /etc/clrm filesystem i-number ... .sh DESCRIPTION .it Clrm writes a zero in the two byte mode of the associated i-node numbered .it i-number. The .it filesystem argument must be a special file name referring to a device containing a file system. More than one .it i-number may be given. After .it clrm, any blocks in the affected file will show up as ``missing'' in a .it check of the .it filesystem. .s3 The primary purpose of this routine is to remove a file which does not appear in a directory. Internal checks are performed on each .it i-number to protect the .it filesystem against clearing either a directory or a special file. .s3 Since .it clrm does not destroy the i-node's original disk block address when invoked, the i-node, if cleared by mistake, may then be salvaged more efficiently. .sh "SEE ALSO" check(VIII), clri(VIII)
