.SH DESCRIPTION
When invoked without the
.B \-
argument,
.I rjestat\^
reports the current status of \s-1RJE\s0 links
to the specified host computers.
When invoked with the
.B \-
argument,
.I rjestat\^
sets up an interactive status terminal.
If no hosts are cited explicitly,
the specification defaults to all those
for which a given \s-1UNIX\s0 is configured.
The ``host'' pseudonyms
.SM "\fBA\fP, \fBB\fP, \fBC\fP, \fBU1\fP,"
.SM \fBU2\fP,
and
.SM \fBU3\fP
are built into the \s-1RJE\s0 software.
.SM \fBA\fP, \fBB\fP,
and
.SM \fBC\fP
may be used to represent any \s-1IBM\s0 host machine.
Their actual destinations are immaterial to \s-1RJE\s0.
The pseudonyms
.SM \fBU1\fP, \fBU2\fP,
and
.SM \fBU3\fP
are built into \s-1RJE\s0
to represent any \s-1UNIVAC\s0 host.
.PP
To enter an enquiry via such a status terminal,
you must first generate an interrupt.
This can be done by hitting the \fB\s-1DEL\s0\fP key
or the \s-1BREAK/INTERRUPT\s0 key.
.I Rjestat\^
will respond by prompting for enquiries directed
to each host in turn.
The line on which a prompt appears may be completed
to form a legitimate display command for that particular host.
If the line is terminated
with a \fB\\\fP,
the prompt will be repeated,
otherwise it will advance to the next host.
A carriage return alone indicates
that no enquiry is to be directed to a particular host.
You should expect to wait at least 30 seconds for a response.
.PP
An interrupt will temporarily halt
the display of responses.
It can therefore be used to inhibit roll-up
on a \s-1CRT\s0 terminal.
The display of responses will resume
after all prompts have been satisfied
(perhaps by null completions).
.PP
To exit from the status terminal, generate a quit signal
or type \fB\s-1DEL\s0\fP followed by \fB\s-1EOT\s0\fP.
.PP
The interactive status enquiry capability is not supported
for \s-1UNIVAC\s0.
