.TH CVT 1
.SH NAME
cvt \- Convert disable/restore assembler macros to standard assembler
.SH SYNOPSIS
.B cvt \f2infile\f1
.SH DESCRIPTION
.I Cvt
is a special-purpose filter used to convert nonstandard assembler
language code to standard form.
The nonstandard code arises from the \f2disable\f1 and \f2restore\f1
macro definitions, which insert literal text into the assembler
language output of \f2cc11\f1 without resolving symbolic references.
When invoked, \f2cvt\f1 reads the assembler language contained in
\f2infile\f1, remembering the offset of the local variable \f2ps\f1.
It replaces symbolic references to \f2ps\f1 with the correct offset.
.PP
\f2Cvt\f1 detects possible misuse of \f2disable\f1 and \f2restore\f1
by returning a nonzero exit code if it finds references to local
variable \f2ps\f1 without finding a definition.
.SH BUGS
When multiple procedures have been compiled into one assembler file,
\f2cvt\f1 may fail to detect missing declarations of \f2ps\f1
in later procedures because it treats the entire input file as a
single text file.
