​About to get on a lane, will try to reply next week but I've always said
case-insensitivity is a classic example of bug becoming a feature.​   Most
of my friends that worked on development of the DEC OS's agree.  It was
side effect that was turned into a (bad IMO) feature - but that is a matter
of taste.
