I think it's funny that you can use 'smitty' /or/ 'smit' to launch SMIT 
on serial consoles.

But 'smit' had a very different behavior in an AIXterm.  'smit' would 
try to launch the Motif version.  Conversely, 'smitty' would always 
launch the curses version.
