Another exciting find, in the mail currently but will hit my scanner when it arrives. Managed to land 4 binders from the early 80s that appear to contain Pidents and various other OSDD documents pertaining to the No. 2 Switching Control Center System and ESS-related UNIX (and possibly ESS-CC sources) listings. The pictures were brief but I saw PG- and PR- series documents and source listings.
Anywho, will update when I know what all is contained therein but the SCCS (switching control, not source control) bits represent the forerunner of CB-UNIX and look awfully similar to comparable USG Program Generic listing documents (which in turn resemble other switching stored program control documents from AT&T).
With any luck this'll help settle the deltas a bit between USG, SCCS, AND CB UNIX branches. The current understanding is SCCS became CB-UNIX, but given these SCCS-specific documents as of the early 80s I'm now curious if both survived in their own parallel streams quite a bit longer.
More to come! I'll reply to this thread with more info when the stack of binders arrives.
