Best PC in town to buy.

I am coming from the Amiga world and going into the PC world (ya).
I was wondering what is the best system to get,
I'm looking at the Gateway 2000 386 non-cache deal (2400 dollars),
and the PC brand 386sx and 386 (800 and 1500 dollars),
---
I was also wondering:
If a VGA card at 1024X768 with 1meg is equivalent to Super-VGA,
I mean it could be a 16 color at that res and 256 at normal.
How good is Winodws 3.0 compared to GeoWorks (berkeley).
Do both of these programs support the max-res of the gateway 2000 I'm planning
on getting or 1024X768 with 256 index colors.
Is there a program that will print VGA pictures to a color printer using
         half-tone or ordered grey/color-scaling?
Is Autodesk animator as slow as its player (maybe this should be one I should
         ask on comp.graphics, sorry)?
Also, does anyone know how to parallel process (share work) between several
CPU's, I heard that "hardware multi-tasking" is possible on the 386
and 486 based machines? Is there some special hardware I need to do this?
Is there and software that I need to do this.
Plus, what is micro-channel?

Later,
KJH (I would be surprised if any ONE could answer this. If you
know the answer to one of my questions, just send me mail at
              "kholland at hydra.unm.edu". Thanx).
