(and the rest I can only guess at. It's referring to King Chuck the 
Great, Karl der Gross, Charlemagne. Or if you like, the Great and 
Magnificent King Upchuck. :) ) It's not Spanish; I thought it had a 
touch of Occitan/Catalan, but I could be wrong.
